Premiers unbeaten after three

If last weekend's Swindale Shield match with Oriental-Rongotai was an arm wrestle, this weekend's match with Tawa was more like a game of table tennis - that is until a second half blitz saw the Red Machine pull away.

In contrasting conditions to last week, the game was played with higher pace and much higher scoring. After Tawa initially pulled ahead with two penalties, the two sides then exchanged tries throughout the first half - including a athletic finish in the corner by Milan Kriletich resembling that of NZ Warriors winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak. The half time score read 19-20 with Tawa holding the advantage.

After the Red Machine opened the scoring early in the second, Tawa almost immediately struck back. It was two tries scored in six minutes that saw the home side pull ahead before some sensational tries put the game to bed. Final score 57-41 to Marist St Pats. Our Premiers now sit second on the Swindale Shield table.

Earlier on Evans Bay, our Colts almost pulled off a stunning comeback before falling to their first defeat by 39-40 to Tawa. Over the road, the Premier Reserves lost 12-55 to Tawa. Also playing Tawa, but at Lyndhurst Park, our Under 85s had a heavy 7-109 loss.

Elsewhere, the Internationals made it two-from-two with a 43-12 win over OBU 'Pink Ginners'; the Presidents fell to Wainuiomata by 29-39.
